THE ROOTS PRESENTS The Jam: June 15th and 21st, 2010

I really enjoyed these shows and was so grateful to be there. The Roots are on top of their game and the music is fantastic. I really dug the funky jams and Black Thought is clearly one of the best Emcees in the game. Questlove sharply led this troupe of masterful musicians, marking the release of the anticipated album "How I Got Over". Word. The bass heavy jams floated from jazzy brass laden standards to classic boom bap joints to creative melodic new pieces. Good times. Check the gallery links for all the great guest performers.

Big Daddy Kane 6/16/2010 Summerstage in Bed-Stuy

The forecasted rain never came, and it was a cool clear evening. Big Daddy Kane of The Juice Crew brought the boroughs together, performed the classics, and even brought out Scoob and Scrap to bust a few routines. I was smiling the whole show, also Chubb Rock and Greg Nice came out to top it all off with a few of their hits. Von King Park is a great little spot. Props to Summerstage, their sound team, and cool staff for providing a dope event well enjoyed.

Above the Clouds: Keith "Guru" Elam Memorial May 18, 2010

DJ Doo Wop, Chris Medina, Larry Jenkins, and Big Jeff Zulu hosted this event in the loving memory of Keith "Guru" Elam. The pictures don't really do justice to the evening. Ralph McDaniels put together a dope and nostalgic video mix, as everyone came together in positivity to enjoy emotional praise and celebratory performances honoring the departed lyrical legend.
